Current Youth Program Initiative

For years now the city of Compton has been in dire need for a program representative of its residents that builds on the city's history and its origin. Youth programs are limited and in some districts non existent. Connecting Compton has been able to support youth engagement by providing a differentiated functional youth equestrian and agricultural program that will be available to children ages 10-17 and enrolled in grade school. In the effort for a positive change Connecting Compton has proactively started this initiative and has been able to successfully serve over 60 students since its kick-off in 2022. Our organization seeks to continue supporting our youth this Summer 2024 through its progressively growing four week, eight session program. The four week Summer program is the beginning to a larger program that will take place year round with the intention of serving Compton's youth through its horses and agriculture. Through the Summer program, those that participate will have the opportunity to learn the basic principles of Ranching and begin understanding our connection to the animals and the land.

Youth Equestrian Programming

Vision for our Youth Equestrian Programs

Our ultimate vision is a year round program that opens the doors to all ages and all levels of experience. Connecting Compton's vision opens the doors with the intention to serve our most in need through adaptive therapeutic riding, basic horsemanship and ranching skills, while also propelling those kids that look to reach their full potential as competitors.

Through our proposed Compton Multi-Cultural Equestrian Center we will be able to safely offer:

  • Therapeutic Riding

  • Equine-Therapy for our children with disabilities

  • Basic Horsemanship & Horse Etiquette

  • Rodeo Programs (Mexican-Charreria (Escaramuza, Floreo) and American Rodeo (Bull riding, Bronc Riding).

Vision for our Non-Equestrian Youth Development & Community Support Programs

We understand that horses and the ranching lifestyle is not for everyone, but having a safe space that can provide resources and overall community support is. Therefore, we have made it a priority through the development of the Compton Multi-Cultural Equestrian Center also offer:

  • A Community Center (This space will serve as a resource hub that will house lots of amazing non-profit leaders that offer diverse support in their experienced fields.

  • After-School enrichment programming
